"an add on for this website failed to run" Adsense Adchoice Ad sense Ad choice

Internet Explorer 8 or Internet Explorer 9 show "An add on for this website failed to run" across the top of a web page, then tells you to check "Security Settings".

You check the security settings and try all combinations, but the darn message still appears!

IE8 and IE9 are very poor browsers. Microsoft technicians drink coffee all day long and generally don't know what the public wants, or ignores users complaints.

There is a simple solution that Microsoft clearly doesn't know about. Perhaps they do know and want to leave customers in a state of frustration.

Go to "Tools", "Internet Options", "Security", "Restricted sites", "sites".

Cursor down until you find "".

Remove it. Click "Close". Click "Okay".

It is done. You will have no more problems.

Disabling shockwave flash object in addons fixed it for me

For my site I have a one banner adsense ad. In internet explorer I inconsistently get the message "an add-on for this website failed to run”
when the page loads.
This is extremely annoying as my adsense ad will not display when I get this message. Ads display properly
in firefox or chrome. Just to see if the problem was my laptop only
I went to several other computers and had the same problem (adsense displays fine in firefox & chrome
but not internet explorer).

I finally discovered that if I go to add-ins in internet explorer and disable "Shockwave Flash Object" everything is good.
This fixes the problem everytime .The issue here is that everyone and their dog has "Shockwave Flash Object"
installed on their computers and it is causing adsense ads to not display properly or at least that is what
appears to be causing the problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

I was getting this error on windows 2008 server trying to run the tivoli client. I had to disable IE ESC from the Admin tools>server manager>security configure IE ESC (stands for Internet exploder enhanced security configuration) and turn it off for admins

You're a great human being. Thanks for helping us getting rid of this annoying popup. You should be the head of IE department at Microsoft. God Bless.
